JRC Home for Handicapped, Udheywala, Jammu, is a registered nonpolitical, secular Non Government Organisation (NGO) dedicated to the cause, residential care and rehabilitation of the orthopaedically handicapped and hearing impaired children. Jammu Red Cross Home for Handicapped came into existence in the year 1975. Under the vigilant leadership of the present Secretary, Shri. Satish Kumar Sharma, the NGO has been functioning in an efficient and organized manner. The NGO has been fully dedicated to the cause of improving the lives of the differently abled children and has also achieved immense success in their venture.
Our Management And Resource
JRC Home for Handicapped is efficiently run under the administration of a competent management team. The Home has its own constitution and is run by a Governing Body duly elected triennially by the General Body of the Home which includes prominent citizens. Two members, one each from Regional Red Cross and Social Welfare Department are incorporated in the Governing Body. Mr. P.C.Kapoor, Smt. Monia Kapoor , Shri. Satish Kumar Sharma, Smt. Nirmal Vikram and Mr. Sudesh K. Verma are the President, Vice President, Secretary, Joint Secretary and treasurer respectively. In addition, sufficient staff has been employed in the Home for providing various types of services to the inmates. They include Director, Manager-cum-warden, physiotherapist, teachers, clerk, drivers, cooks, ayah, helpers, craft teacher, tutor, carpenter, electrician, waterman, sweeper, plumber and so on.
Infrastructural set-up
The Home has a covered area of 8000 sq.ft. including three dormitories with attached bathrooms, one each for boys and girls, one furnished Dining Hall, Cook House, one modular kitchen, three stores, Physiotherapy-cum-rehabilitation Centre, O.P.D. Consultation Room, Meeting Hall, Office, three Class Rooms, Pooja Room, three corridors, Reception-cum-chowkidar Hut, residential dwelling units for staff and two spacious lawn.
Besides the institution has a special block for Hearing Impaired children to provide them free lodging. Special Care For Handicapped JRC Home for Handicapped is engaged in providing free lodging, boarding, physiotherapy, education, pre-occupational training and medi-care to the handicapped especially the polio victims in its effort to rehabilitate them and facilitate them to lead a respectable life. Brilliant students are sponsored for vocational training outside the state by the Home. In addition, we also provide adequate help to hearing impaired students to reach their potential and get them rehabilitated.
